About the Artist

Everett Kinkade Smet with her Ceramics

Hi, I’m Everett Kinkade Smet

I live in rural Northern California, finding time for ceramics and leading creative workshops any chance I get. I love to grow food, raise animals, and cook with my husband. Above all else, I find myself wanting to encourage creative freedom and connection through my workshops. Everyone has something they want to create. Whatever your something is, I’m here to support it.

Artist Statement

My art draws inspiration from joyful moments spent outside, and explores themes of earth-connection and transformation. I make functional work that enhances the experience of enjoying fresh local food, deepens earth and human connections, and enhances daily life with its beauty. See my CV here.

My Maker’s Mark

My maker's mark features my initials which form the shape of a butterfly, representing metamorphosis. I believe metamorphosis occurs on a personal level through the transformative power of art and creativity, which is why I dedicate time to teaching and leading creativity workshops. Metamorphosis also occurs as a critical part of both ceramics and farming, my two passions.

Kinkade Legacy

As the youngest daughter of Thomas Kinkade, my fondest memories of him were when he was happy, healthy, and making art. Sadly, he passed away when I was a teen, and I didn’t get the chance to learn from him the way I would have liked to. As an adult, I have discovered the same love of art that he had, and have self-taught various artistic mediums. I have three profoundly creative sisters and a mother who leads our family with strength and compassion. Our family has continued the Kinkade Legacy of making art accessible to all through the Kinkade Family Foundation.
